Elsner, McMan named first-team CSC Academic All-Americans
AUSTIN, Texas -- Senior first baseman Steven Elsner (San Francisco, Calif.) and senior right-handed pitcher Parker McMan (Bozeman, Mont.) were both named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America® first team, as announced today by the CSC.
With the honor, Elsner and McMan become the first first-team Academic All-America® selections in any sport in school history.
The CSC recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately honors athletes in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA.
Eligible student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher, and either compete in 90% of the team's contests or start in at least 66% of games.
Elsner, who earned third-team NAIA All-American honors and ABCA/Rawlings third-team All-America recognition, had one of the most prolific offensive seasons in program history. He led the Bruins in nearly every major offensive category including batting average (.386), on-base percentage (.472), slugging percentage (.838), OPS (1.310), hits (76), runs (70), doubles (18), home runs (23), and RBI (65).
His 23 home runs ranked second all-time in BU single-season history, while his slugging percentage ranked fourth. His 42 extra-base hits and 1.310 OPS each ranked seventh in single-season history, and his 70 runs scored placed ninth. Over his two-year career, Elsner compiled a .372 batting average with 137 hits, 76 extra-base hits, 42 home runs, and 127 RBI. He ranks No. 1 in slugging percentage, No. 2 in OPS, and No. 3 in career home runs in the BU record book.
McMan, who was named the 2025 BU Male Academic Athlete of the Year, compiled a stellar senior season both academically and athletically. He earned first-team all-NSAA honors, a spot on the NSAA Gold Glove Team, and was named NSAA Pitcher of the Week on March 17. He led the Bruins with 83 strikeouts and ranked No. 10 nationally with a 2.29 ERA, posting a 6-2 record on the mound. McMan also earned accolades as the BU Athletics Strength and Conditioning Athlete of the Year.
In the classroom, McMan was named a Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete and a CSC Academic All-District selection. His efforts helped lead Bellevue to a 40-15 overall record, including a dominant 19-1 NSAA mark, as the Bruins captured both the regular season and tournament titles for the third consecutive year. BU made its 27th all-time NAIA National Tournament appearance.
The NAIA Academic All-America® program is financially supported by the NAIA national governance structure to assist CSC with awards fulfillment for the 2024-25 Academic All-America® honorees.
