Makarus again recognized as NSAA Player of the Week
BISMARCK, N.D. -- Bellevue University's Ayden Makarus (Okotoks, Alberta) has been named the North Star Athletic Association Player of the Week for the second time in three weeks.
Makarus batted .375 with a 1.688 OPS for the week, belting out four home runs, driving in seven runs, and scoring seven runs.
Bellevue (36-13/19-1 NSAA) wrapped up the regular season this past weekend with a four-game sweep of the University of Jamestown. With their win in game one of the series, BU clinched the No. 1 seed for this week's NSAA Tournament.
All five of his hits in the weekend sweep of Jamestown went for extra-bases. He was 3-for-3 with a double, two home runs, four RBI, and three runs scored in Friday's second game. He blasted the go-ahead – and game-winning – home run in the sixth inning of game three, and added another home run in game four.
For the season, Makarus is now hitting .322 with a 1.187 OPS, 15 home runs, 35 RBI, 37 runs scored, six doubles, two triples, and is 4-for-4 in stolen base attempts.
The Bruins are seeking a fourth-straight NSAA Tournament Title and begin their postseason journey on Thursday, May 1 at 10 a.m. against No. 8-seeded Valley City State University.
