BU announces signing of Wessels to LOI
RHP Jace Wessels (Clarkston, Wash./Columbia Basin College) has signed a letter of intent to continue his academic and athletic careers at BU beginning in the fall.
BELLEVUE, Neb. -- Bellevue University baseball coach Duane Monlux announced today the signing of Jace Wessels (Clarkston, Wash./Columbia Basin College) to a letter of intent to continue his academic and athletic careers at BU beginning in the fall.
Wessels, a 6-2, 185-pound right-hander, joins the Bruins from Columbia Basin College in Pasco, Wash. In his time with the Hawks he helped guide them to a 93-42 overall record, back-to-back NWAC Super Regionals, and an appearance in the 2023 NWAC Championship.
In three years at Columbia Basin, Wessels appeared in 34 games logging 29 starts. pitched to a 17-5 record and 4.12 ERA across 172.2 innings of work. Opponents hit.261 against him with just 35 extra-base hits in over 750 plate appearances. In leading the Hawks to the NWAC Championship this past season, Wessels went 5-3 with a 4.36 ERA on the hill with all 13 of his appearances coming as a starter.

He hails from Clarkston, Wash. and regularly attended games at the NAIA World Series across the Snake River in Lewiston, Idaho when he was younger. He pitched for Columbia Basin College in the very competitive NWAC in the Pacific Northwest. Jace was a mainstay in the rotation for CBC the last three years, pitching in over 172 innings. We are looking forward to him getting on the mound for us at Bellevue University."
Wessels joins the previously announced Brady Toth (RHP, Boise, Idaho/Columbia Basin College) in the Bruins' 2023 recruiting class. The two were teammates for the past three seasons with the Hawks.
Bellevue is coming off a 2023 season in which the program reached the Avista NAIA World Series for the 16th time in program history. During the campaign, the Bruins posted a 48-10 overall mark, going 25-3 in conference play while sweeping both the NSAA Regular-Season and Tournament titles. BU parlayed the league's lone automatic bid into the program's 25th NAIA National Tournament Appearance, hosting their fifth Opening Round at Don Roddy Field and defeating Oklahoma City in the Championship Game to reach the Avista NAIA World Series for the third time in four seasons.
