KANSAS CITY, Mo -- Junior left-hander Blake Crippen (Hillsboro, Ore.) has been named the NAIA's National Pitcher of the Week for his performances last week as the Bruins' competed in their annual spring trip in Florida.
Bellevue won all five games they played last week, including a pair of top 10 victories over No. 8 St. Thomas University and last year's NAIA National Champion No. 1 Southeastern University.
Crippen picked up wins over both St. Thomas and Southeastern, posting a 2.92 ERA over 12.1 innings of work. He worked six-plus innings in each start and, against Southeastern, allowed just one earned run to an offense that had been averaging 16 per game over its previous nine games and 11.4 on the year.
Crippen struck out three in each contest and allowed just one extra-base hit on the week.
The Bruins will host Dakota Wesleyan University tomorrow (Mar. 15) in a single nine-inning non-conference contest beginning at 3 p.m. at Brown Park in Omaha.
