Johnson picks up second-straight NSAA Pitcher of the Week award
Bellevue University right-hander Elijah Johnson (Omaha, Neb.) has been named the NSAA's Pitcher of the Week for the second-straight week.
BISMARCK, N.D. -- For the second-straight week, Bellevue University right-hander Elijah Johnson (Omaha, Neb.) has been named the North Star Athletic Association's Pitcher of the Week.
Johnson pitched the second game of the Bruins' series against No. 17 St. Thomas on Sunday afternoon and produced outstanding results. In seven shutout innings of work, he scattered five hits while striking out eight and issuing just one walk to earn the win.
On the season, Johnson is 3-1 with a 2.10 ERA. He has struck out 41 batters in 30 innings of work (12.30 K/9) and issued just nine walks (4.56 SO:BB ratio). He has now gone two starts without allowing a run and has yielded just six hits in 14 innings while striking out 16 and walking two during that time.
Bellevue (10-4) just took two out of three against #17 St. Thomas and is now 4-4 against Top 25 opposition on the season. The Bruins return to action tomorrow against Warner University (20-6) at 5 p.m. from Royals Field in Lake Wales, Fla.
