After a convincing 16-7 win in the opener, the Bellevue University baseball team fought back in the nightcap, only to fall in extra innings as Dakota State University scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth to pull out the 10-9 victory.
The 10th-ranked Bellevue University baseball team took advantage of six Midland University errors while outhitting the Warriors, 12-9, en route to a 13-4 non-conference victory Tuesday evening at Moller Field.
BU batters totaled 9 home runs and 17 extra-base hits as the No. 10-ranked Bruins finished off a four-game sweep of Waldorf, winning game three 20-1 by run-rule before prevailing 14-8 in the finale.
All eight Bruins who started both games of Sunday’s double-header recorded at least two hits as BU defeated Viterbo by scores of 8-3 and 20-3 to sweep the weekend series.
Bellevue scored three in the seventh to break open a scoreless game in support of a combined shutout from Elijah Johnson and Cade Sakamoto.
The 24th-ranked Bellevue University baseball team opened a three-game non-conference series with Briar Cliff University on Saturday with a decisive 9-2 victory at John Stella Field in Brown Park.
Alex Stufft forced extra innings with a two-out game-tying single and BU scored twice in the 10th with two down to pull out a 4-2 win over the 14th-ranked Drovers.
After seven of the game’s eight runs were scored in the first three innings, pitching settled in for both sides and Oklahoma City held on for a 5-3 win over Bellevue.
Bellevue suffered a 3-2 walk-off defeat against No. 9 Oklahoma Wesleyan but bounced back by downing host No. 20 Oklahoma City 9-8 to earn a split on Saturday.
Bellevue racked up 33 runs on 31 hits to sweep York in the season-opening double-header by scores of 11-10 and 22-1.
