JACKSON, Miss. -- Former Bellevue University shortstop Galli Cribbs worked his way into the record books on Wednesday afternoon while playing for the Jackson Generals (Arizona Diamondbacks – Double A Affiliate) of the Southern League.
In an 8-1 victory over the Birmingham Barons, Cribbs hit for the cycle. He began the day with an inside-the-park home run, before tripling, doubling, and singling to complete his first career cycle.
Cribbs becomes the first Southern League player to accomplish the feat since Chris Curley pulled of the trick for Jacksonville on June 1, 2016 and the first Jackson player to do so since Abraham Almonte on Apr. 27, 2013.
Cribbs is off to a terrific start to his season owning a slash line of .486/.571/.829 to go along with six extra-base hits, eight RBI, and 12 runs scored. Building off his strong Cactus League showing with the big club (12 appearances, .429 AVG) he currently leads the Southern League with a 1.400 OPS.
The versatile utility man has appeared as both a shortstop and right-fielder for the Generals who now stand at impressive 10-2 on the season.
