Bruins receive at-large berth to National Tournament
The Bellevue University baseball team received an at-large berth into the NAIA Baseball National Tournament beginning this week at nine separate Opening Round sites. The Bruins will open play on Thursday, May 10, in Paducah, Ky. against Lindsey Wilson (Ky.).
Bellevue finished the regular season with a 39-19 overall record, winning the MCAC regular season title after finishing with a 17-3 league mark. York College won the conference's automatic berth after capturing the MCAC Tournament last week in Omaha. BU finished second in the tournament.
Participants in the Paducah Opening Round site include: No. 1 seed LSU-Shreveport, No. 2 Lindsey Wilson (Ky.), No. 3 Bellevue, No. 4 Peru State, and No. 5 Grand View. Game times will be released on Monday.
LSU-Shreveport has been ranked No. 1 in the NAIA National Poll for six-consecutive weeks. Lindsey Wilson is currently ranked No. 11. Bellevue and former MCAC foe Peru State both received votes in the latest poll.
Each Opening Round site will feature a five-team double-elimination tournament with the winners joining host Lewis-Clark State (Idaho) at the 56th annual Avista-NAIA World Series in Lewiston, Idaho, on May 25 - June 1.

- Bellevue captured the 1995 NAIA National Championship and has advanced to the NAIA World Series 12 times.
- This will be Bellevue's third time in the Opening Round since the Opening Round format was adopted in 2009.
- This marks the second-straight year the Bruins have been sent to the Paducah Opening Round site.
