Baseball ranked No. 25 in NAIA Coaches' Poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- For the first time this season, the Bellevue University baseball team is ranked in the NAIA Baseball Coaches' Top 25 Poll, announced by the national office today. The Bruins come in ranked No. 25.
Bellevue has won its last nine games and is currently 37-17 on the season and won the MCAC regular season title with a 17-3 record. This also marked the 13th time in school history and the ninth time in the last 12 years that the Bruins have captured the conference regular season title.
The Bruins will host the four-team conference tournament on Wednesday-Friday, May 2-4 at Westgate Field. The MCAC all-conference team will be announced tomorrow following the first game.
Brandon Thompson, who was named the MCAC Player of the Week for the second-straight week, leads the team in hitting, batting .388 and has a team-high in home runs (14), RBIs (56), slugging percentage (.713) and on-base percentage (.462). Thompson's 14 home runs ranks 11th in the NAIA.
On the mound, the Bruins are led by Michael Calderon who has posted an 8-1 record with a 2.72 ERA and 62 strikeouts in 72.2 innings of work.
