Bruins cruise to 12-4 win at Midland

FREMONT, Neb. -- The Bellevue University baseball team pounded out 17 hits with six players collecting at least two hits as the Bruins cruised to a 12-4 non-conference victory at Midland University Tuesday night at Moller Field.
Bellevue improved to 18-12 on the season while Miland fell to 5-21 overall.
The Bruins will head to York, Neb. this Friday-Saturday, March 30-31, for a four-game conference series at York College. The doubleheaders start at 1 p.m. both days.
Tanner Moore went 3-for-4 with a double, a home run, and four RBIs to pace the BU offense. Brandon Thompson finished 3-for-5 with three runs scored, two RBIs, and a home run.
Midland took an early 1-0 lead with an RBI single by Derek Kampschneider in the top of the first inning. The Bruins responded with a solo homer by Moore in the top of the second, tying the game at 1-1.
Kampschneider added two more RBIs win a two-run double in the bottom of the third, giving the Warriors a 3-1 advantage.
A solo homer by Vince Orsi increased the MU led to 4-1 in the bottom of the fifth frame.
The Bruin offense unloaded for four sixth-inning runs as Bellevue grabbed their first lead of the game at 5-4. BU scored on a two-run double by Dusty Kerns and a two-run single by Ryan Knutz.
Bellevue added solo homers by Tylor Pavel and Thompson to increase the BU margin to 7-4 in the seventh. The Bruins blew the game open with five runs in the eighth on a pair of RBI singles by Pavel and Thompson and a bases-clearning double by Moore.
Grant Mason (1-0) was credited with the win.
