Blood signs with Bruin baseball program
Utah high school standout infielder Tyler Blood has signed a letter of intent with the Bellevue University baseball program in an announcement made today by Bruin head coach Duane Monlux.
A native of Salt Lake City, Blood was a three-year letterwinner at East High School under coach Tony Siciliano, earning first team all-state, all-district, and all-region honors while leading his team in nearly every offensive category during his junior and senior seasons.
Blood batted .463 during the 2011 campaign with 16 doubles, three home runs, two triples, and 42 RBIs.
He was named East's Offensive Player of the Year in 2009, Pitcher of the Year in 2010, and Most Valuable Player in 2011.
"Tyler is a quality player that plays in one of the top leagues in Utah," said Monlux. "He is a quality hitter that projects well at the college level. We are excited to bring him to Bellevue University and see how he progresses during his college career," added Monlux.
Blood joins the Bruins' earlier signees Aaron Beil (Omaha, Neb.), Ryan Knutz (Rochester, Wash.), Kody McFarland (Sugar City, Idaho), Tanner Moore (Omaha, Neb.), and Beau Dahmen (Genesee, Idaho) in the 2011-12 recruiting class.
The 2011 Bruins finished the season with a 31-22 overall record, advancing to the NAIA National Championship Opening Round after winning the 2011 MCAC Tournament title.
