Bazant named MCAC Baseball Player of the Week

POINT LOOKOUT, Mo. – Bellevue University outfielder Anthony Bazant has been named the Midlands Collegeiate Athletic Conference’s Player of the Week for the week ending April 24.
This marks the second consecutive week and third time this season that Bazant has earned the MCAC Player of the Week award. He also picked up the honor on March 21.
Bazant, a native of LaVista, Neb., batted .706 (12-for-17) with five runs, two triples, seven RBIs and four stolen bases.
The senior opened the week with four hits, three runs scored and one triple against Northwestern (Iowa) College on April 20.
In BU’s three wins against Missouri Valley College, Bazant went 5-for-9 from the plate with one run, one triple, seven RBIs and stole four bases.
Bazant ended the week by going 3-for-3 with one run against William Penn on April 23.
For the season, Bazant leads the Bruins in hitting, batting .434 with 40 runs scored, four triples, four home runs, 40 RBIs and a .636 slugging percentage. He is also 24-for-29 in stolen base attempts.
The Bruins are 24-18 overall and in first place with a 10-3 mark in the MCAC. Bellevue will return to action Thursday and Friday, April 28-29 when they travel to Peru, Neb., for its final MCAC regular season series at Peru State College. First pitch is slated for 1:00 p.m. on both days.
