YORK, Neb. -- The Bruins outscored the Panthers 52-39 in the second half as the 14th-ranked Bellevue University men's basketball team posted a 91-82 win at York College in Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference action Friday night at the Freeman Center.
Bellevue improved to 14-4 and 1-1 in the MCAC while York fell to 10-5 and 0-1 in league play.
Michael Dotson tied a career-high with 20 points and five rebounds. He also made seven of his nine field goal attempts.
Alex Worthen-Harris recorded a double-double with 10 points, 10 rebounds and two blocks.
The Bruins raced out to an early 15-8 lead highlighted by a pair of 3-pointers by Hammock and one by Kalipinde before YC answered back with a 13-0 run to take a 21-15 advantage at the 12:24 mark of the opening half.
BU pulled within one, 29-28, but the Panthers outscored the Bruins 14-11 in the final 7:49 of the first period to take a 43-39 lead at halftime.
The Bruins scored nine of the first 13 points of the second half to take a 48-47 lead three minutes into the second half.
With the game tied at 57-57, the Bruins went on a 16-4 run and took a 73-61 lead at the 9:23 mark. BU led by at least seven points the remaining of the half en route to the nine-point conference road win, 91-82.
Deon Willis paced YC with 20 points.
The Bruins will conclude their three-game conference road trip tomorrow (Jan. 18) when they travel to McPherson, Kan. for a 5:00 p.m. game at Central Christian College (14-3, 0-1 MCAC).
