BELLEVUE, Neb. -- Senior Jelani Johnson nearly recorded a triple-double with 20 points, 12 rebounds, and eight assists as the ninth-ranked Bellevue University men's basketball team collected a 99-67 win over Southwestern Christian University Friday night in Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference action at the Gordon Lozier Athletic Center. 

With the win, Bellevue improved to 21-5 on the season and 9-1 in the MCAC. The Eagles fell to 10-13 overall and 3-8 in league play. 

James Parrott added 19 points and five rebounds. Jeremy Arrington finished with 16 points, while Blake Zamudio and Austin Bowen chipped in with 11 points apiece. 

Glenn Irwin led the Eagles with 14 points. Tyler Averill added 13 points and seven rebounds. 

Thanks to 10 early points from Parrott, the Bruins established a nine-point lead at 20-11. The Eagles battled back to take the lead at 28-27 following a 3-pointer from Averill with six minutes remaining in the half. 

Ousseynou Diop scored the final six points of the opening period as Bellevue closed the half on a 16-6 run to grab a 51-42 lead at the half. 

Arrington hit 4-of-5 3-pointers and led all scorers in the first half with 16 points. Parrott added 12 points and three rebounds. The Eagles were led by Averill's 11 points in the first half. 

A 12-2 Bruin run opened up the game in the second half, giving Bellevue a 69-54 advantage at the midway point. 

Bellevue scored 15-consecutive points and closed the game on a 24-8 run to cruise to 99-67 victory.

Johnson recorded 13 points, three assists, and three steals in the second half, while shooting 6-of-8 from the field. 

BU shot 53.7 percent from the field and was 42.1 percent from behind the 3-point arc, while limiting the Eagles to 41.8 percent shooting for the game. 

The Bruins will honor the team's three seniors, Jeremy Arrington, Ousseynou Diop, and Jelani Johnson on Saturday (Feb. 11) night in Bellevue's final regualr season home game against Oklahoma Wesleyan University beginning at 5 p.m. at the Gordon Lozier Athletic Center.
