Bruin volleyball signs Wiggins for 2013
Gothenburg's Wiggins becomes third signee in 2013 class...
Bruin head volleyball coach Trish Siedlik announced the signing today of Jacey Wiggins (Gothenburg, Neb./Gothenburg HS) to a letter of intent to continue her education and playing career at Bellevue University beginning in the fall of 2013.
Wiggins, a 5-10 rightside hitter, is the daughter of Jerry and Jolene Wiggins.
She was a four-year starter under coach Mary Clark at Gothenburg High School, where she was a three-time all-conference honoree. Wiggins was also a three-time all-state honorable mention selection.
Wiggins led the 2012 Swedes in attacking percentage and assists while ranking second in kills. She holds twenty top 10 single-season records for GHS.
"Jacey will be a great addition to our depth on the rightside," said Siedlik. "She is a lefty who has versatility with experience on the left side and at the setter position."
A standout three-sport athlete, Wiggins was an all-conference and honorable mention all-state selection in basketball and the starting pitcher for the North Platte Belles summer softball team, which earned two state championships and two state runner-up titles.
An excellent student, Wiggins earned Honor Roll status every semester of high school, while also becoming a member of Sigma Phi Beta.
"Our team immediately connected with Jacey when she visited our campus and that matters most in our successful program," added Siedlik. "She is a special young lady and we are fortunate to have her part of the Bruin volleyball program."
Wiggins played club volleyball for Nebraska Gold under Jenny Surmeier and North Platte St. Patrick's under Emily Wyatt.
Wiggins joins earlier signees Addison Smith (Papillion, Neb./Papillion-LaVista HS) and Bridgette Baden (Hebron, Neb./Thayer Central HS) in the 2013 recruiting class.
