MADISON, S.D. -- Four Bellevue University women's soccer student-athletes were named First Team All-NSAA with four more earning second team honors when the 2017 North Star Athletic Association Women's Soccer All-Conference Teams and Postseason Awards were announced on Thursday.
Seniors Kristin Hanson (defender) and Laurence Rodier (goalkeeper) along with juniors Reyvin Hernandez (midfielder) and Maiwut Dar (forward) were the first team selections. Hernandez led Bellevue with seven goals and Dar was second with six goals while the duo tied for the team lead with 16 points. Rodier owned a 10-3-0 record in net recording five solo shutouts and a combined shutout. Hanson scored a goal and anchored a back line which conceded just 12 goals and posted seven shutouts.
Seniors Margie Garcia (midfielder) and Madison Stumpf (defender) as well as freshmen Kylee Mastromonaco (forward) and Morgan Sheard (defender) were all named to the second team. Mastromonaco ranked third in both goals (5) and points (13). The trio of Garcia, Stumpf, and Sheard were a part of a defensive unit which conceded just 12 goals and posted seven shutouts.
Jamestown collected three of four major postseason awards with Connie Contreras being named Offensive Player of the Year, Kristin Breaux being named Newcomer of the Year, and Nick Becker being named Coach of the Year. Viterbo's Isabelle Ferm prevented a Jimmies sweep in being named Defensive Player of the Year.
BU placed second among five member schools in the regular season standings, going 3-1-0 against league opposition.
Bellevue (11-4-0) begins its postseason journey tomorrow evening with an 8 p.m. kickoff against the University of Jamestown in the semifinals of the Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) Tournament being held in Lawrenceville, Ga. and hosted by Georgia Gwinnett College.
