BELLEVUE, Neb. -- Bellevue University baseball coach Duane Monlux announced today the signing of Colton Walker (Goldendale, Wash./Blue Mountain CC/The Dalles HS) to a National Letter of Intent to continue his baseball and academic careers at BU beginning in the fall.
Walker comes to Bellevue from Blue Mountain Community College in Pendleton, Ore. where he made 22 starts – 23 appearances – over the past two seasons. The 6-1, 195-pound right-hander logged 133.2 innings including five complete games and a pair of shutouts for the Timberwolves.
He recorded a 9-6 record in his time at Blue Mountain and posted a 4.11 ERA and struck out 104 batters against 52 walks (2.00 strikeout-to-walk ratio). Opponents batted .265 against Walker who did well to minimize damage, allowing just 2.15 extra-base hits per nine innings.
Coach Monlux on Walker:
"Colton is a pitcher that has thrown a lot of innings the past two seasons. He has the veteran leadership that we are looking for in our program. He has put together two very solid seasons in the NWAC East Region. We expect good things from Colton in a Bruin uniform."
Walker joins previously announced signee Hunter Jury (C; Davis, Calif.) in the Bruins 2018 recruiting class.
Bellevue wrapped up the 2018 season with a 38-23 overall record (17-5 NSAA) and won their second North Star Tournament Championship in the last three seasons. The Bruins earned their eighth-straight NAIA Opening Round bid and 21st NAIA National Tournament Appearance in the storied history of the Bruin Baseball program.
