All nine Bruin programs earn NAIA Scholar-Team recognition

NAIA Release

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced the teams that have earned the distinction for Scholar-Teams for the 2016-17 academic year.

To be eligible, teams must post a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. This year, all nine Bellevue University athletic programs met that threshold.

BU Athletic Director Ed Lehotak expressed his pride in the accomplishments of the athletic program, saying, "It's rewarding to see our investment in support services for student-athletes paying off with such success as we've improved our academic standing year after year. Additionally, it is a credit to our student-athletes and coaching staffs that they put such emphasis on being scholars and athletes."

The Scholar-Team awards come on the heels of yet another successful athletic season for Bellevue athletics. During the 2016-17 school year all programs posted a winning record, six qualified for NAIA National Tournament, five won regular-season NSAA Championships, and five won NSAA Tournament Championships.
